GP CLINICAL CHAMPION
Sexual & Reproductive Health Focusing on Long-Acting Reversible Contraception

Options UK is developing and coordinating a London LARC Network (LLN) on behalf of the London Sexual Health Programme. The LLN steering group would like to introduce a model of Sexual & Reproductive Health GP Champions, with one GP Champion per Strategic Health Authority sector (i.e. South East, Inner North East, Outer North East, North Central, North West, South West). The primary focus for these roles is to:
  • Proactively contribute to local Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) networks
  • Increase the range of high quality contraception choices provided through general practice
  • Increase the number of GPs and practice nurses who are trained to provide Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC)
  • Identify locally appropriate interventions to increase the uptake of LARC in General Practice
  • Identify and improve local referral pathways to IUCD and Implant insertions and removals.
The posts will be for 0.5 day a week for one year initially and the payment for one year is £11,500 (calculation based on £500 per day x 46 weeks). Click here for full details.
