Kirstan Hawkins has over 20 years experience as a social researcher, Her key expertise includes social analysis and appraisal of reproductive and sexual health programmes, including the elaboration of rights-based approaches and analysis of barriers to access to health services; HIV & AIDS policy development and programme design at senior level with government and donors; participatory approaches to design and monitoring of health interventions; development of programmes focusing on young people including community based initiatives; user perspectives and quality of care of health services, especially in relation to NGO projects in primary health. Prior to joining Options, Kirstan worked with the Centre for Development Studies, University of Wales Swansea, and the International Planned Parenthood Federation. She has particular experience in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
