Technical Assistance Support Team, Madhya Pradesh, India
The Technical Assistance Support Team (TAST) supported the Government of Madhya Pradesh’s Public Health and Family Welfare Department and the Department for Women and Children’s Development in achieving the objectives of the health reform programme – the Madhya Pradesh Health Sector Reform Programme. The programme ran from 2008--2012.

The Health Sector Reform Programme aims to bring about increased use of quality health services, especially by the poorest people and in underserved areas. The programme has six main outputs:
  • Improvement in equitable access to quality public healthcare services
  • Improvement in accountability of health services
  • Strengthening organisational structure and human resource management systems
  • Ensuring adequacy and effectiveness of funding
  • Participation and regulation of private service providers
  • Integrated service delivery to reduce malnutrition and improve child health.

TAST worked with the Public Health and Family Welfare Department and the Department for Women and Children’s Development towards achieving the agreed milestones of the reform programme. TAST provided expertise in:
  • policy development
  • public health and hospital management
  • maternal and neonatal health
  • nutrition
  • governance
  • organisational development and human resources
  • social development
  • monitoring and evaluation
  • resource allocation and financial management
  • public private partnerships.

TAST was funded by the UK Department for International Development. Options, with its partner also managed the Technical Assistance Support Team in West Bengal and the Technical and Management Support Team in Odisha, both funded by DFID.
