We are currently undertaking work in the following areas:
- Guatemala:
The PEER unit is working with PSI/PASMO to gain a better understanding
of sexual behaviour, HIV risk perception and attitudes towards family
planning among indigenous communities near Guatemala city.
- UK:
In the first study of its kind in the UK, the PEER unit is conducting
PEER with women from London’s Somali, Ethiopian and Sudanese
communities, to investigate attitudes towards female genital mutilation
(FGM) and identity, and how women from these communities perceive
health services in the UK. Results will inform a new national strategy
on FGM and related support services for women and girls affected by FGM.
- Rwanda:
The PEER Unit supported PSI Rwanda using the PEER approach to develop
an in-depth understanding of how gender norms affect family planning
and reproductive health decision making among young married couples, to
inform the design of gender sensitive family planning and reproductive
health programmes and policies.
