Nigeria
- Evidence, advocacy and accountability for maternal and newborn survival, 2011–2016. Nigeria is one of the six countries of the DFID-funded £19.5M Evidence for Action (E4A) programme managed by Options, which is also operating in Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Tanzania. The E4A programme is working to improve maternal and newborn outcomes, linking evidence, advocacy and accountability. The programme is using and presenting evidence to decision makers and advocates to generate political commitment, and to strengthen accountability to create change and improve outcomes for mothers and newborns. - Voice and accountability and health sector reform. The Partnership for Transforming Health Systems (PATHS2) 2008–2014,
is a programme of support to the health system in Nigeria. Options is leading the demand side deliverable – engaging civil society and improving the knowledge and understanding of citizens on health and health systems issues. Options is providing technical leadership to empower citizens and civil society to increase the accountability and responsiveness of their health service. Read more about the programme.
- Governance and HIV & AIDS expertise. The Enhancing Nigeria’s Response to HIV and AIDS, 2008–2014, is a programme of support to the Government of Nigeria, to reverse the HIV epidemic and mitigate equitably the impact of AIDS on individuals, households and the wider economy. Options is leading the programme objective of strengthening the stewardship and coordination role of federal and state governments for an effective, multi-sectoral and evidence-based HIV and AIDS response. - Reproductive child health and health sector support. Options is leading the programme of support to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation of the Government of Sierra Leone 2010–2013. Options is providing technical assistance to support the implementation of its Reproductive and Child Health Strategic Plan. The programme is aimed at improving the financing, management and delivery of sustainable and replicable pro poor health services to ensure the achievement of the national Reproductive and Child Health Strategic Plan to reduce the appalling maternal, under 5 and infant mortality rates.
