Study to understand maternal health care seeking behaviour

Options worked with the Connecting Health Research Africa Ireland Consortium (CHRAIC) to finalise a PEER study design, and prepare and carry out a PEER research training workshop for peer researchers. The objectives of the research were to: gain an in-depth understanding of how women make the decision to seek maternal health care; identify the barriers to accessing maternal health care services; identify the coping strategies used by pregnant women with crises who survived without going to health facilities; and examine the role of providers in the traditional health system in the process of maternal health care in an area of South Sudan.
